Bernard recently represented a longtime workers’ compensation client in her application for Social Security disability benefits. The client’s hearing was before the administrative law judge (“ALJ”) yesterday in Federal Court in Gadsden.
Several years prior, our client sustained a serious lower back injury when she slipped in chicken grease in a warehouse kitchen. After fusion surgery, she was left with severe physical limitations. Subsequent to this injury, our client was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and rheumatoid arthritis. These three medical conditions combined to form the basis of her Social Security claim. For a 43 year old woman, she is dealing with a lot of daily pain and discomfort. She really cannot perform most daily activities she once enjoyed. This includes her inability to maintain any level of employment.
Hopefully she will receive a favorable ruling from the ALJ in the upcoming weeks. Will keep you informed.
