Since beginning this program in February 2014 much success helping Veterans has been achieved. Presently there are about 25 Veterans in the program. The task of the Court under Judge Michelle Thomason and the mentors is to administer the program, aid the Veteran through the levels of compliance and return these individuals back to society. Court meets every Monday in Foley, Baldwin County, Alabama.
All Veteran organizations in the area have been alerted to our helping these Veterans in trouble and funds have been solicited to deal with financial emergencies as well as drug testing, transportation, and buying court clothes for the Veterans. We are in the process of qualifying more Veterans w/ honorable discharges to help with the mentoring program. Monthly mentor meeting will be conducted to better educate the mentors on how to help the Veteran/mentees. Our job is not to legally advise the mentee but to offer solutions to their ongoing problems. With the return of troops from overseas our needs and theirs will increase. We are ” Veterans serving Veterans”.
